Your group visit will take place in 2 stages: the free visit of the museum space and the guided tour of the cathedral.

The Bishop's Palace, alternately bishopric, prison and insane asylum, reveals the history of Couserans and the development of the site thanks to a completely new museum.

Discover during a free visit, the monetary treasure and its 13 pieces and models presenting the evolution of the site. Find the emblematic “Bégouën collection” (retracing the life of a Pyrenean valley in the last century) in its new staging and with its new objects taken out of the reserves for the occasion.

The 150 years of the psychiatric hospital will also be evoked in a completely renovated and original room.

Adjoining the building, the superb Notre-Dame-de-la-Sède cathedral, called the “Ariège Sistine chapel” will dazzle you with its remarkable Renaissance paintings. 

The place will no longer hold any secrets for you thanks to the guided tour which will allow you to discover its history. From its construction to its grandiose decorations with very specific themes, you will familiarize yourself with the major religious themes and their challenges as well as with the artists who worked there.
