For the guided tour of the talc quarry, reservations must be made online. Once the reservation is made, we will meet you directly at Trimouns talc quarry car park, 15 minutes before the departure of the visit!
The career of trimouns
Located at an altitude of 1700 m above the village of Luzenac, Trimouns is the largest talc quarry in the world in operation and the only one in operation in France. The view of the Pyrenees is unique, in good weather you can see the Bonascre plateau, the Beille plateau, the Pic du Tarbésou or the Pic du Montcalm!
You can explore this unique place thanks to guided tours. Our guides will reveal all the secrets of this unusual place and how it works. You will discover the geological properties of the deposit, the history of its formation and its exploitation, from the extraction to the production of this real white gold. All in a sumptuous natural setting! It is by coach that you will enter the very heart of the operating site.
The guided tour lasts about 45min, several stops are planned at key places on the site. A discovery that will certainly leave a lasting memory!
Talc is an omnipresent element in our daily lives.
Even if you don't see it, it's there: paints, cars, papers, cosmetics... it's up to you to come and discover all the stages of transformation to consumption!
The reservation for the guided tour of the quarry is compulsory. The price includes the guided tour of the quarry and access to the museum space located in Luzenac.

> Allow 35 to 45 minutes to travel with your vehicle, from the Talcaneô museum space in Luzenac, to the car park at the Trimouns talc quarry.
> Animals are not allowed for visits to the quarry and the museum.
Please note: As the quarry is located at an altitude of 1700m, good weather conditions are essential for the visit. In the event of bad weather (storm, fog, snow, rain) the visits can be cancelled, on our initiative, until the last moment.
The cancellation of the visits being linked to the weather conditions, in the event of cancellation, everything is done to contact, as soon as possible, before the schedule of visite people who have booked.

The talcaneô museum space
A whole new museum space 400m² of talc was created in Luzenac. A place immersive and fun which reveals all the secrets of talc and the history of the men and women who built this fabulous industrial epic in Ariège!
This space invites you to discover the world of talc, from its extraction to its transformation thanks to a visit route made up of numerous visual and game devices. In a dedicated space, follow, as if you were there, the talc from its extraction to its arrival in your home thanks to a 180° screen. Young and old, immersion awaits you: interactive media will be there to guide you!

Access
By car :
The talc museum from Toulouse:
Take the A61 then the A66 to Pamiers. Then follow the RN20 towards Ax-les-Thermes as far as Luzenac. Duration: 1h30.
The talc museum from Pas de la Casa:
Take the RN22 to the intersection with the RN320. Take the RN320 until the intersection with the RN20. Take the RN20 towards Foix as far as Luzenac. Duration: 42 minutes.
The talc quarry from the museum:
Take the D2 towards “Unac”. At the intersection with the D20, take the road towards “Carrière de Talc”. At the intersection with the D55, turn right towards "Carrière de Talc".
You have been warned! mountain road, 35-45 minutes uphill, requires careful driving.
